2016 Award Winning Wines

PRESS RELEASE: 29 NOVEMBER 2016
WEST WINERY WINS DOUBLE GOLD AT JEFFERSON CUP
Kansas City, Missouri November 25, 2016- The Jefferson Cup Invitational has celebrated its seventeenth year as the only competition that honors the best of the best among wineries from all of America’s wine regions. West Winery of Macon, Missouri, was awarded a Double Gold medal for its Signature Red, a dry red wine made in downtown Macon. Only 31 wines out of 720 received the distinction. The same blend in Signature Red can also be found at the winery’s Cottleville location, Rack House West Winery, where it is identically crafted then labeled as No. 87.

The Jefferson Cup Invitational was founded in 1999 in honor of Thomas Jefferson and his role in America’s culinary (including wine) and agricultural history. Wineries must be invited to participate, and invitations are based on the results of tastings and competitions throughout the year. This year’s competition raised more than $100,000 for Angel Flight Central.

Additional West Winery wines were awarded silver and bronze in the Jefferson Cup, and have also earned multiple gold, silver and bronze medals in the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition, Taster’s Guild International Wine Competition, Missouri Wine Competition, New World International Wine Competition and San Francisco International Wine Competition.

The double gold-winning Signature Red can also be found at the West Winery’s Kirksville (West Winery/Jackson Stables) and Hannibal (Cave Hollow West Winery at Mark Twain Cave) locations.15288477_10154305753917054_3672874556647563273_o
